What this filter is
This is a third-party replacement filter for the Levoit Core 300 and Core 300S. It is not a Levoit product. The listing we link to is a 2-pack of 3-in-1 filters. Each has a pre-filter, an H13-grade HEPA layer, and a carbon layer. The listing compares it to Levoit's own part, the Core 300-RF.
It only fits the Core 300 and 300S. If you own a different purifier, buy the filter made for that model.
Why filter changes matter
A HEPA purifier's benefit depends entirely on air moving through a working filter. As a filter fills with dust, dander, and pollen, it gets harder to push air through. The purifier then cleans the room more slowly, even though it's still running.
That matters because the evidence for purifiers is already modest. HEPA units reliably lower airborne allergen. In a Dyson-funded chamber trial, air cleaners cut airborne cat allergen by more than 80% and reduced nose and eye symptoms in cat-allergic people PMID: 40246248. But in a home trial of adults with asthma, a purifier improved air quality over 78 weeks without improving asthma control PMID: 36288782. A systematic review of small trials found slightly lower symptom scores with air filters, but no change in medication use and inconsistent results PMID: 12426250. Letting the filter clog gives up part of an already small benefit.
How often to replace it
- Every 6 to 8 months with continuous use.
- Sooner with pets, smoke, or during heavy pollen season.
- Follow the filter indicator on your purifier, and reset it after each change.
- Don't wash the HEPA layer. HEPA filters are designed to be replaced, not cleaned.
A 2-pack at the $25–40 price range covers about a year at the normal interval, which makes it easier to change on time.
Downsides
- Not made by Levoit. The fit and the H13 rating come from the seller, not from Levoit or an independent test we can cite. A filter that doesn't seal well can let some air bypass the HEPA layer.
- Model-specific. It fits the Core 300 and 300S only.

- It won't help much with dust mites. Mite allergen settles out of the air within about 20 to 30 minutes, and an allergy practice parameter calls HEPA filtration alone of uncertain benefit for mite allergy PMID: 24267359.
Compatible filter vs. Levoit's original
Levoit's own Core 300-RF filter is made for the purifier and comes with the manufacturer's performance claims. This compatible filter costs less but relies on the seller's word. Neither option changes what the purifier can do if the filter fits and seals properly. If you use the purifier for a health reason and want the least uncertainty, the original is the safer choice. If you're replacing filters on schedule and cost is what keeps you from doing it, a compatible filter is a reasonable trade.

Buy Levoit's original filter if you'd rather have the manufacturer's part.
